Efectividad antiparasitaria de la cipermetrina 6% "pour on" contra Melophagus ovinus en ovinos a corral y a campo

RESUMEN: Se comunican los resultados de tres ensayos realizados a corral y a campo, para medir el efecto de una cipermentrina 6%, (Lansan‚, Instituto Rosenbusch S.A.) aplicada pour on, a una dosis, sobre ovinos esquilados y con lana de un año, infestados naturalmente con Melophagus ovinus. La reducción de las poblaciones parasitarias a los 14 días de tratados llegó al 100% en los animales esquilados, mientras en los tratados que tenían lana de un año, tardaron 56 días en eliminarse. También se observó una marcada reducción de melófagos en animales a corral no tratados que convivían con un tratado. A campo, se logró control total (100% de eficacia), hasta el reingreso del parásito a la majada por un animal portador, no tratado. De acuerdo a los ensayos realizados, la cipermetrina 6% pour on aplicada inmediatamente después de la esquila, se considera una excelente opción para el control de la melofaguiasis. Efficacy of cypermethrin 6 % pour on, against Melophagus ovinus on infested sheep on stabled and field conditions
SUMARY: The results of studies of the efficacy of 6% cypermethrin pour on (Lansan‚ Instituto Rosenbusch S.A.), against Melophagus ovinus in naturally infested sheep are reported. In 3 assays, we studied animals that were both housed and in the field flocks, shorn or with one-year fleece growth. Parasite population reduction reached 100% on day 14 since treatment, in housed, shorn sheep but day 56 in unshorn animals. It was noted that untreated animals, stabled together with treated ones, showed a marked reduction in parasite population. In the field, we also recorded 100% efficacy until re-infestation occurred, presumably related with the introduction of a single untreated animal. Our findings show that 6% cypermethrin pour on, applied immediately after shearing, provides the best control option against melofagiasis in both field and stabled flocks.
